What Positive Works Studio Is All About:
The rigors of the modern world imprison the body. Positive Works provides the key.
Image with this that illustrates the mission of the business long commutes. 10-hour work days. Hectic home lives. The tools of each trade can disrupt a body’s natural, elegant balance. Car seats, desk chairs, loads of heavy laundry or rambunctious children knock the body of out of its peaceful, perfect alignment.
An unbalanced body – stripped of its once fluid movements – amplifies the aches, strains and stresses of every day life. The body is meant to serve as our spirit’s steady foundation, allowing energy to flow freely. A misaligned body, however, is part of the problem rather than a potential solution, and we help you fix that discomfort!
Positive Works can get your body back on your side through exercise, massage and practices to help restore the natural light within. Our clients reconnect quickly with their body and natural energy to create a solid foundation that can withstand the rigors – and highlight the joys – of every day life
Positive Works takes a holistic approach to health by emphasizing the connection of the body with the mind. Our goal is always the same - to help our clients take control of their own health and wellness through education and practice. We have been providing superior bodywork services since 1997.
The professionals at Positive Works are committed to providing unparalleled services to meet their client’s individual health and fitness needs. At Positive Works you will receive the finest personalized fitness training designed to meet your specific needs.
GYROTONIC – A celebration of the body and spirit. Gyrotonic combines fluid and soothing movements with deliberate breathing to drive oxygen throughout your body and return strength to muscles that modern life has left behind. Through classes, private sessions or paired partners, our clients nourish their bodies with the contemplative time and exercise their bodies have come to crave.
PILATES (puh-lah-teez) – A series of slow, concentrated practices that return focus and strength to the body’s vital core. The simplest form of Pilates is Mat Work which is a sequence of exercises that can be performed on the floor and practiced at home.
Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) – A powerful, penetrating series of stretches and massages that guide the muscles back to health.
MASSAGE - Massage sessions are individually tailored for each client incorporating a variety of techniques as needed. Massage can be soothing and relaxing or energizing and stimulating depending upon the techniques used during the session. Swedish strokes are used to warm the muscle to prepare for deeper work if necessary.
Active Massage
The term Active is used because the client participates in the treatment. The therapist works with the client using directed breathing and stretching techniques to elongate and stretch the muscles.
Myofascial (my-oh-fayshul)
Myofascial deep tissue techniques include direct pressure and frictioning strokes. This is used to work out knots in the muscles (adhesed tissue) by manually spreading and realigning damaged muscle fibers (scar tissue).
Reflexology
Reflexology is an ancient healing art that uses specific thumb and finger techniques to stimulate reflex points on the feet, hands and face which correspond to all the internal organs of the body. This promotes energy balance and deep relaxation.
Reiki (ray-kee)
The art of Reiki is a healing technique based on the laying on of hands to reduce stress and encourage relaxation. Reiki is based on the principles of a life force energy flowing through all things including the body. If that energy is low the result will be poor health. If it is high a person may enjoy optimal health. Reiki works to balance the flow of energy.
Scar Tissue
Sports Massage
Sports massage is designed to help athletes and sports-players heal a specific injury. The therapist uses compression, trigger point therapy and cross fiber friction. More and varied techniques are used during the treatment depending upon the injury.
