Up, up and away! Want to know the best way to see the beauty of our coastline and have a little bit of an adventure at the same time? A visit to Plum Island Airfield might just answer that question!

The fields and salt marshes along Plum Island Turnpike, just a short 2 ½ miles east of Newburyport Center, have been used for aviation since 1910, and continues to attract aviation enthusiasts.

The airfield offers two museums located on the Plum Island Airfield, the Burgess Museum and the Working Museum, both built and maintained by volunteers who have extensive knowledge, expertise, experience and an unbridled passion for aviation history and vintage aircraft.
Recreational services are available year-round to the General Public including Glider Rides and Scenic Flights as well as Flight Instruction!

There are many events to enjoy at Plum Island Airfield, where during events, the airfield is transformed into both a community and aviation happening! The flying and non-flying public are welcome to enjoy the following:
Close-up views of General Aviation aircraft and rare vintage airplanes, tours of the historical Burgess Museum and the Working Museum, glider rides and scenic rides, panoramic views from inside lounges and exterior wrap-around decks, vibrant blend of music, conversation and laughter during event
